by: Katherine Haenschen

Mon Nov 24, 2008 at 13:02:51 PM CST

Democrats in Travis County are working hard to help elect Chris Bell to the Texas State Senate. He faces a close run-off election on December 16th. With early voting only two weeks away, there are plenty of voters to contact and turn out.

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday November 25th, for a phonebank at Scholz Garten. Help us continue our momentum and elect accountable leaders here in Texas.
Phonebanks:
Tuesday 11/25 -- 7 pm - 9 pm
Scholz Garten, 1607 San Jacinto

Tuesday 12/2 -- 7 pm - 9 pm
Scholz Garten, 1607 San Jacinto

Monday 12/8 -- 7 pm - 9 pm
Victory Grill, 1104 E. 11th

We'll also have information on several bus trips to Houston to canvass for Chris Bell as soon as details are finalized. Can't leave down or make calls? Click Here to Donate to Chris Bell.

Victory in 2008 is just the beginning!

Thanks for all of your hard work in the 2008 election. Let's keep it going and turn Texas blue in 2010 and beyond!

Photo's From Election Night

by: Matt Glazer

Thu Nov 13, 2008 at 16:37:37 PM CST

Election Night was incredible.  Thousands of Travis County Democrats filled the historic Driskill Hotel downtown and 6th street.

We celebrated victory from the courthouse to the White House.  We watched election returns come in throughout the country in the same place LJB celebrated victory.

There are more than a few pictures from the wonderful night. Take a look.

What a Night

by: Matt Glazer

Wed Nov 05, 2008 at 18:04:42 PM CST

Last night Democrats in Austin watched returns at the historic Driskill Hotel, and we celebrated.

Last night we had victories from the courthouse to the White House. While we joined the nation in celebrating Barack Obama's historic election, we rejoiced locally too.

Karen Huber took back Ann Richards' seat and made the Travis County Commissioners Court completely blue!

Valinda Bolton held on and defeated one of Tom Craddick's hand picked candidates to serve the people of Texas under the pink dome.

Donna Howard and Mark Strama also won handily in House District 48 and 50.

Jim Coronado and Woodie Jones will take their place on the bench putting fairness and justice back in our courts.

Our local Democrats, Nelda Wells-Spears, Ron Davis, Greg Hamilton, Adan Ballesteros, Richard McCain, and Bruce Elefant all won too.

Not only did we win every race in Austin last night, we also made over 7,500 calls into El Pason and helped elect Joe Moody as the newest Representative in El Paso.

Last night was a big night for all of us.  Thank you for all you have done and thank you for all you will do. Our job isn't one yet, over the next two years we will continue to work to Turn Texas Blue!

Great News!

by: Crystal Viagran

Tue Nov 04, 2008 at 08:27:44 AM CST

(the proof is in the numbers... come volunteer right now at 1107 N. I-35 and then show up tonight at the Driskill. - promoted by Matt Glazer)

The proof is in the numbers-- people are empowered this election.

In 2004, 42,902 Hispanics turned out during early vote and on E-Day. Simply put, a little less than 43,000 total Hispanic voters turned out in 2004.

4 years later, with only Election Day left, we have already had 39,155 of the 82,729 registered Hispanics voters cast a ballot. That is 47.3% of all the registered Hispanics and 91.2% of the 2004 turnout.

There is still a lot to do today, but these are incredible numbers!
